Let the ceremony begin
Bathing ceremonies have held great significance throughout the ages.
In Egypt, Greece and Rome, the purifying properties of water were revered, while aromatic oils and natural preparations were widely used for health, beauty and emotional wellbeing. Similar ceremonies, both religious and secular, have historically been practiced throughout Asia and Africa too.
Many of these practices survive in modern form. In Scandinavia and Russia, sauna and banya remain as much a way of life as the hamman and onsen do in Morocco and Japan, while a huge variety of treatments can now be found around the world thanks to the phenomenal growth of the spa.
With its roots in these traditions, Abahna has been created to reawaken people to the possibilities of bathing as a therapeutic and rewarding experience.
